A400 Xtreme Plus
The A400 Xtreme Plus stock now feature a soft comb, which reduces the felt recoil imparted to the shooter’s cheek even further. New for 2018, the A400 Xtreme Plus features Beretta’s exclusive Steelium Plus barrels, a first for hunting shotguns providing the best patterning possible from all hunting loads, along with further felt recoil mitigation.
Further drawing from the competition world, the new A400 Xtreme Plus barrel features a step rib with an integral mid-bead and fiber optic front bead in order to ensure the proper fit and sight picture for all conditions. Further enhancing the A400 Xtreme Plus is the addition of an extended charging handle and bolt release from the factory to allow for easier manipulation during the coldest and rainiest days, as well as an enlarged loading port to allow for easier loading in adverse conditions.

Personally, I am not a big fan of the larger bolt release. Because it is a lever, it seems to require less force to disengage and I don’t like that. It also snags because it isn’t a small rounded button.

coming with 5 chokes is nice and should be expected in a gun of that price range. Both Xplors came with only 3. That made me mad enough that I wasn’t about to purchase Beretta chokes and bought Briley, not because they were better, but because a $1000+ gun shouldn’t come with only 3.

Here are my thoughts, patterned well with everything I put through it, just like the predecessors. improved loading port may or may not be real, but in my opinion none of the 3.5″ guns really like 3.5″ shells. That said, I shot probably 150 3.5″ rounds through it this season and had no troubles at all.

I should use my A400 Xtreme Plus for the first time tomorrow. I’ll see what happens.

I’ve never shot an A400 extreme. I just got back from shooting some rounds with the A400 plus. To say I’m overjoyed is an understatement. I patterned a 3″ 2 shot Fiochi steel at 25 yards, and the POI was about 55/45. I prefer a simple touch of high. When I first started playing with the pistol, I noticed that the KO was difficult to compress. I hoped it would loosen with time. I could feel the dampeners squeezing as I shot today. I used to have an Extrema 2 with KO and now have a Urika 2 391 with KO, and while they were/are soft shooters, I never felt the KO compress like I did with this Extrema Plus.

I got mine yesterday. I am taking it to the patterning board tomorrow. Last night I tore it all the way down and cleaned the factory oily mess and got it cleaned up. I really love the way it shoulders. I ordered it without shouldering one and it fits A++ on me

Here’s the biggest issue for me and you won’t read about it in their advertisements. They have removed the cutoff. I know that isn’t important to a lot of people, but I use it a lot and was disappointed. My fault for not noticing, but I thought I was getting an improved a400 only to find that it had some enhancements and at least one limitation.
In the end I’m glad I got the gun, but would have been just as happy with the previous version.
