The 110 Folding Hunter is an old favorite! Buck’s Folding Hunter was created in 1963 when Al Buck realized that outdoorsmen needed a revolutionary lockblade knife but did not want to carry a long fixed-blade knife. He was correct, and the outcome proved to be critical to the company’s future.

The task was to combine the advantages of other folding knives with locking mechanisms into a well-designed, dependable product. It wasn’t easy, but the Model 110 was unveiled after a series of refinements.

Buck Knives is pleased to collaborate with Taylor Guitars, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium acoustic guitars, in their efforts to implement a sustainable supply model for genuine ebony handles on some of their key heritage products. Ebony wood was originally used on the 110 and 112 models in the 1960s, but federal regulations on endangered woods forced Buck to use resin treated wood in the 1990s. Buck now uses ebony, a natural material with beautiful grain patterns that provides customers with a nearly indestructible knife handle. It was harvested as part of Taylor’s thriving conservation project.

Lockback
Lockback folding knives have a mechanism that locks the blade in the open position when the blade is fully opened. A lock back is named after a rocker (rocking lock bar) visible on top of the knife. When you open the blade, the rocker locks against the blade and it locks open. By pressing down on the rocker on top of the handle, the user is able to close the blade. Lockbacks require two hands to close, but some are one-handed openers.
